February 4 Prince Edward, Duke of
Edinburgh, and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, are set to arrive in Nepal today as
part of their six-day South Asia tour. The royal couple is scheduled to land
separately at Tribhuvan International Airport around 10:30 AM.
During their visit, they will attend the
badge distribution parade at the British Gurkha Camp in Pokhara, marking the
formal induction of Nepali recruits into the British Army. Additionally, they
will board on a scenic helicopter tour of the Annapurna mountain range.
The couple will also engage with
organizations supporting healthcare, gender equality, and survivors of human
trafficking. Buckingham Palace has highlighted this visit as a celebration of
the longstanding ties between Nepal and the UK, fostering collaboration on
shared priorities such as youth empowerment, healthcare, and environmental
conservation.
