The route you must take to reach Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar is not easy either. Especially for Nepalese and Indians, as they have to travel for days to reach Mount Kailash.

There are many travel companies that provide packages for Nepalese to circuit around Mount Kailash and visit Lake Mansarovar. Your yatra can begin once you have visa to enter China. The long road-journey begins at Kathmandu, taking you to the China-Nepal border at Rasuwagadhi. After 5 days of road travel, you reach the starting point of the trekking journey.
New route from Lhasa is also gaining popularity, however we do not recommend it currently.
Indian citizens need to travel to Kathmandu first for Kailash Mansarovar yatra. After reaching Kathmandu, you can apply for Chinese visa for the yatra. There are many travel agencies in Nepal that provide packages to Kailash Mansarovar for Indians who cover all these expenses. As of January 2024, Indian citizens are not getting their visa request accepted to visit Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar in China.
There are many routes popping up from where you can reach Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar, but they are not fully approved and secure. The most-secure and approved route for Kailash Mansarovar is the route through Kyirong (Gyirong).
Routes from Lipulekh and Nathula Pass are said to be open and safe. We recommend not to take risk with your well-being and proceed with the approved route.
Day 1: Drive from Kathmandu to Syafrubesi
Day 2: Drive from Syafrubesi through Rasuwagadhi to Kyirong City
Day 3: Drive from Kyirong to Dongba or Saga County
Day 4: Drive from Dongba to Lake Mansarovar
Day 5: Drive from Lake Mansarovar to Darchen
Day 6: Drive from Darchen to Sershung (Sexiong) and Trek to Diraphuk Monastery
Day 7: Trek from Diraphuk Monastery to Zutul Puk Monastery
Day 8: Trek from Zhulthulphuk to Darchen and Drive to Saga
Day 9: Drive to Kyirong City
Day 11: Drive from Kyirong City to Kathmandu
To identify itinerary for Indian citizens, please add one day for arrival in Kathmandu and 3 business days for Chinese visa procurement.
