Guide

Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is one of the most difficult treks in the world. This trekking journey in Tibet is widely known as the kora around Mount Kailash. Mount Kailash is sacred to four religions and a deeply numinous place. The average altitude of this holy yatra is nearly 5000 meters, so it is a great challenge and requires strong perseverance. It is true test of the mind and spirit. The trekking yatra is about 53-kilometers. It starts and ends at Darchen, at an altitude of 4,575 meters. Hindus make a clockwise parikrama, while Bons make an anti-clockwise parikrama. Pilgrimages try to complete the Kailash Parikrama 3 or more than 3 times in their lifetime.

This Kailash Mansarovar Yatra package is an overland package from the Kyirong border. The 13-day journey starts from Kathmandu, Nepal to Kyirong border through Langtang National Park. This is an alternative route to the Kodari border, open from 2017 for Kailash pilgrimage. Driving through Kyirong and Saga we finally reach Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar.

About Mount Kailash

Mount Kailash is a sacred mountain located in Ngari Prefecture, Tibet. It is a holy site for Hindus, Buddhists, Jain, and Bon. Pilgrimage from all over the world visits Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar every year. Everybody wants to take a holy bath at Lake Mansarovar and make the 3 days Kailash Kora. It is believed that the 3 days trekking around Mount Kailash gets you blessings from Lord Shiva in Hinduism, and from Guru in Buddhism.

Note: This Kailash Mansarovar Yatra package for Indians is only for Indian citizens. Please refer to the specific Kailash Mansarovar Yatra package for Nepalese and other internationals for precise information.

After breakfast, we will introduce you to your tour guide, who will pick you up from your hotel for an interesting tour of the Pashupatinath Temple and Budanilkantha. After the sightseeing free day.

After breakfast, drive to the Syaprubesi which will take approximately 8 - 9 hours. It has the advantage of being higher than the town and certainly much higher than Kathmandu, assisting in acclimatization. Overnight in Guest house.

After lunch and immigration formalities - we cross the friendship bridge and queue up for the immigration, our Chinese guide will assist us in this process. After completion of it, the road climbs steeply up to Kyirong. Overnight at Guest House with dormitory facility.

Today we will cross PekhuTso lake, passing Mount xixapangma and Brahmaputra River. Further drive to Saga. Overnight stay at guest house on dormitory rooms.

Today is the day of your lifetime that you are going to have darshan of the Holy “Mt. Kailash & Lake Manasarover” - day's program as usual. Holy Dip at the lake followed by MansarovarParikrama by environmental buses; view Rakshas Tal and reach Chui Gompa. Overnight at guest house. According to the Hindu religion, the lake was first created in +the mind of the Lord Brahma after which it manifested on Earth. Hence, in Sanskrit it is called “Manasasarovaram”, which is a combination of the words manasa (mind) and sarovaram(lake).

Morning free time for pooja and hawan, after that we will drive to Darchen, base camp of kailas. It is on the southern side of the Kailas Peak wherefrom Kailas-parikrama begins. Overnight at Darchen Guest house (dormitory accommodation).

After breakfast, drive to Sershung (6 km) and start trek for Kailashparikrama to Dirapuk (16,500 ft) - 12 km, packed lunch on the way, Dinner and overnight at Camp (tent/mud- house).

This is the day all pilgrims talk about, the most difficult journey throughout the yatra. The last pull to the pass is steep and, due to the altitude, unrelenting. At a dizzy height of 5640m (18600ft), the Drolma (Tara) La marks the transition from this life to a new one. 200 m- below the pass is a view of the lake of compassion, Gaurikund (5440m/18400ft). The path stretches ahead, with distant mountains on the horizon. The way down is long and the last descend is quite steep. Further trek on the east bank of the river and reach Zuthulpuk , dinner & overnight at Camp (tent/mud-house ). The walk between Dirapuk to Zuthulpuk may take about 10 to 12 hours.

After breakfast we trek around 8 km, and we will reach to the place called Zhong Chu where the vehicle will be waiting for us - drive to Darchen, after lunch we drive to Saga. Overnight at guest house.

After breakfast, drive to Kyirong. Drive back to Kyirong about 5-6 hours. Overnight at guest house.
