Do You Need a Visa to Enter Laos?

Yes, you need a visa but it is very easy to get. As a Nepali traveller, you can get a Visa on Arrival when you land at the airport in Laos. This means you do not need to apply before you travel. When you arrive at the airport, you fill in a short form, give two passport-size photos, and pay about USD 30 to USD 42 in cash (US dollars). The visa is ready in about 15 to 20 minutes. What is the Best Time to Visit Laos from Nepal?

• November to February is the best time to visit Laos. The weather is cool and dry. The temperature is usually between 18°C and 28°C not too hot and not too cold. The sky is clear and blue, which is perfect for visiting temples, riding boats, and swimming at waterfalls.
• March to May is warmer and gets quite hot. April is when Laos celebrates its New Year (Pi Mai) with a big water festival it is very fun if you enjoy celebrations!
• June to October is the rainy season. It rains a lot, which can make travelling harder. However, the waterfalls are very full and dramatic during this time, and there are fewer tourists.

Tip: For Nepali travellers, November to February is the ideal window. The weather is similar to a pleasant Kathmandu spring comfortable and perfect for exploring.

What Should You Wear?

Laos is a hot country, so bring light, comfortable clothes like cotton shirts, light trousers, and comfortable walking shoes. When you visit temples, you must cover your shoulders and knees. Carry a light scarf or shawl in your bag you can wrap it around yourself when entering a temple and take it off afterwards.

How Do You Get to Laos from Nepal?

You will fly from Kathmandu (Tribhuvan International Airport) to Vientiane (Wattay International Airport) in Laos. There is no direct flight, so you will have one stop usually in Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, or another city. The total travel time is usually around 6 to 8 hours including the stopover.

How Do You Travel Between Vientiane and Luang Prabang?
