The Kailash Mansarovar trek itinerary is one of the more challenging treks in the world. It is because of the number of days you have to walk and the altitude at which you must walk. The highest point of Kailash Manasarowar Yatra is Drolma La which is at an altitude of 5630 meters.

Despite being challenging, it is still one of the most renowned and enquired treks. It is probably due to the religious beliefs among Hindus, Buddhists, and Bons. In Hinduism and Buddhism, Mount Kailash is believed to be the center of the spiritual universe holding high importance to getting closer to God.

After breakfast, we start the road journey from Kathmandu. We drive up to Syafrubesi today which is about 150 kilometers from Kathmandu. It takes about 7-8 hours to reach Syafrubesi. We stay the night at Syafrubesi.

Day 3: Drive from Syafrubesi to Kerung

Crossing the Nepal-China boundary today we drive from Syafrubesi to Kerung. Although the distance today is just about 45 kilometers, the elevation we cover is significant and the border clearance can take time.

Day 4: Acclimatization Day at Kerung

To minimize the possibility of altitude sickness, we take a day acclimatization rest day at Kerung.

Day 5: Drive from Kerung to Dongba

After a rest day at Kerung, we drive up to Dongba at 4550 meters altitude. Dongba is about 9 hour's drive from Kerung where we spend the night.

Day 6: Drive from Dongba to Lake Mansarovar (4550 meters)

This is the last day before we officially start our Kailash Mansarovar journey. The drive today is about 9 hours from Dongba to Lake Mansarovar.

Day 7: Drive from Lake Mansarovar to Darchen

We visit the holy Lake Mansarovar and Rakshas tal beside it today. After visiting Lake Mansarovar and fulfilling holy rituals, we continue our Kailash Yatra with a short drive of about 3 hours to Darchhen.

Day 8: Trek from Darchen to Diraphuk (4860 meters)

This is the first day of walking. After a short ride, we reach Tarboche where we visit YamaDwari and officially start the yatra. After walking for about 8 hours, we reach Diraphuk at the end of the day. You can view the north face of Mount Kailash from Diraphuk and touch the feet of Mount Kailash. Touching the feet of Mount Kailash is considered a holy feat called “Charan Sparsh”.

Day 9: Trek from Diraphuk to Zhulthulphuk (4670m)

We continue our yatra from Diraphuk to Zhulthulphuk passing through the Dolma La pass. We want to start this walk as early as possible in the morning. It is because Dolma La pass is at an altitude of 5600 meters where many people get altitude sickness. Altitude sickness becomes frequent and difficult to handle in the afternoon and under the Sun. After descending to Gaurikunda and a few hour's trek, we will reach Zhulthulphuk where we stay the night.

Day 10: Trek from Zhulthulphuk to Saga

After a short trek of 2-3 hours, we reach Saga. From Saga, we will take a drive to Darchen to complete the circuit yatra. We drive back to Saga for an overnight stay.
